RailwayTalk is dedicated to the men and women of the Indian Railways and its allied industries. It has been founded by Mr. Ravindra Nath Malhotra, who retired as the Chairman of the Indian Railway Board in 2003 after a checkered career lasting 40 years.
The purpose of the website is to provide a platform for the Railway community, both serving and retired, to exchange views on a host of technical and non-technical matters. We also provide regular columns by interested officers on topics of interest that may be discussed by the community.
From a commercial point of view, RailwayTalk also aims to create a space for contractors, vendors and other allied industries that serve Railway requirements to interact directly with each other as well as Railway officers to build collaborations.
The Indian Railways, and perhaps we can say, railways all over the world have a unique romance that stems from their role in the history of human travel and the dawn of the mechanized age. Railway-persons the world over recognize this unique ethos and understand that it binds them into a family of sorts. It is a family that has a certain affinity to always search for new frontiers.
Therefore, it is not surprising that sons and daughters of Railway officers have gone on to achieve high merit, sometimes in far-off lands. Perhaps few services in India have had so many engineers and scientists arise from their families, as well as settle in the Americas, Asia and Europe. RailwayTalk is just as intended towards this extended family and the myriad issues it constantly raises and that - as we know - we rarely fail to discuss when we get together.
The heart of the website is the forum section that allows all these discussions to take place. Membership, and a chance to post in the forum, is screened before posting is allowed. Some sections only allow Railway officers to post.
In case of any issues, suggestions or thoughts on new areas we should explore, please contact rahul@railwaytalk.com. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please enjoy and carry on your journey on the web with us!
